Summer Shipping Guidelines
Due to the nature of our products (candles and wax items), we take extra precautions during hot summer months. To prevent products from melting in transit, orders are shipped on Mondays or Tuesdays to avoid being held in a hot truck over the weekend. If you are ordering during the summer and will not be available to accept delivery, we recommend shipping to an alternate location where someone can receive the package promptly.

At The Scent Studio, we strive to provide detailed fragrance profiles and notes in our product descriptions to help you make the best choice. Due to the personal nature of fragrances and the handmade craftsmanship of our products, we generally do not accept returns unless the item is defective.

If you receive a product with a defect, please contact us within 72 hours of receiving your order. We will work with you to resolve the issue, whether that means offering a replacement, a store credit, or another solution.

To enhance the stability and scent throw of our wax, we use a small amount of non-toxic food-grade paraffin. We also incorporate soy and soy blends in select candles. A car freshie is a small, scented accessory designed to hang from your car’s rearview mirror, adding a pleasant fragrance to your car. Made from scented beads colored with all-natural pigments, they’re fused together in fun shapes and decorated for extra flair.

Car freshies can be hung from your rearview mirror, closet handle, or any small space—perfect for lockers, drawers, and closets too.

Typically, the fragrance of a car freshie lasts between 30–45 days, but it can last longer in cooler weather. Keep in mind, fragrance longevity varies, with some freshies lasting several months.

To ensure your car freshie stays in top condition, avoid placing it on hot surfaces such as your car’s dashboard, under your seat, or near reflective sun visors. While they can melt slightly, they won’t melt like a wax candle.

For best results, remove your car freshie from your car during extreme heat or when your vehicle sits in direct sunlight for extended periods. If needed, move it to a shaded spot, such as hanging it from your turn signal or a dry-cleaning hook (especially if you have dark window tint).

How long should I burn my candle?
To ensure optimal performance and safety, avoid burning your candle for more than 4 hours at a time.

Why should I let my candle melt to the edge?
Allow your candle to burn until the wax melts evenly across the surface, reaching the edge of the vessel. This prevents tunneling and helps your candle burn evenly in the future.

Can I leave a burning candle unattended?
No, never leave a burning candle unattended. Always stay nearby while it’s lit and extinguish it if you leave the room.

How should I prepare the wick before burning?
Before lighting your candle, trim the wick to 1/8"–1/4" in length. This helps the wax burn cleanly and prevents excessive soot or uneven burning.

Where should I place my candle while burning?
Always burn your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface, away from flammable objects like curtains, paper, or fabrics.

Are candles safe around pets and children?
For safety, keep candles out of reach of pets and children at all times.

Can I use the vessel lid to snuff out the flame? No, using the vessel lid to snuff out the flame is not recommended. Doing so can damage the lid, create excess smoke, and potentially alter the fragrance of your candle. Instead, use a proper candle snuffer or gently blow out the flame for best results.

How do I prepare my wood wick before the first burn?
Before lighting your candle for the first time, make sure the wick is trimmed to approximately 1/8"–1/4". This ensures a clean and even burn.

What should I do if my wood wick won’t stay lit?
If your wood wick has trouble staying lit, it may be too long. Let the candle cool completely, then gently trim the wick to 1/8"–1/4" and remove any burnt pieces. (1/8” is generally the best wick length) Also, ensure there is no debris or excess wax around the wick. 

Do I need to trim the wick before every burn?
Yes, trimming the wick before every burn is essential. Gently remove any charred or burnt wood to keep the flame steady and the wax burning cleanly.

Why is my wood wick crackling or producing soot?
A gentle crackling sound is a natural and charming feature of wood wicks. Due to their natural composition, wood wicks may occasionally discolor the wax. If you notice excessive soot, it’s likely that the wick is too long. Trim it to the proper length and make sure the candle is burning in a draft-free area for optimal performance.

How long should I burn my wood wick candle?
Limit your burn time to 3–4 hours to prevent overheating the vessel and to keep the wax pool consistent.

Can I reuse the vessel after the candle is finished?
Yes! The Scent Studio candle vessels are designed for reuse. Simply clean out the remaining wax and wick after the candle is fully burned. See our section on preparing your vessel for reuse. 

What makes wood wicks different from cotton wicks?
Wood wicks provide a unique, cozy ambiance with their subtle crackling sound. They also produce a wider, low-profile flame and often burn more evenly compared to cotton wicks when cared for properly.

Always use a wax warmer specifically designed for wax melts. This ensures optimal performance and prevents safety hazards.

Can I add water to my wax warmer or burner?
No, do not add water to your wax warmer or burner. Wax melts are designed to work without the addition of water, and doing so could damage the warmer or cause it to malfunction.

Is it safe to leave a wax warmer or burner unattended?
No, never leave your wax warmer or burner unattended while in use. Always turn it off before leaving the room or going to sleep.

How long should I use my wax warmer at a time?
To avoid overheating and to extend the life of your wax and warmer, limit your usage to no more than 3–4 hours at a time.

How do I remove wax from the warmer? 

Allow the wax to cool and harden completely before cleaning. Remove the wax and wipe the dish with a soft cloth or paper towel to ensure it’s clean for the next use.

Where should I place my wax warmer?

Place on a Stable Surface:
Set your reed diffuser on a flat, stable, and heat-resistant surface away from direct sunlight, drafts, and heat sources like radiators or vents.

Insert Reeds:
Place the provided reeds into the bottle, ensuring one end is fully immersed in the fragrance oil for optimal scent diffusion.

Flip the Reeds:
For a stronger fragrance, flip the reeds every 2-3 days. This helps to refresh the scent and keep the fragrance circulating effectively. Use a paper towel or glove to flip the reeds. Do not touch with bare hands.

Adjust Reed Quantity:
Use fewer reeds for a lighter fragrance and more reeds for a stronger scent. If you want to reduce the intensity, remove some reeds.

Avoid Overfilling:
Do not overfill the diffuser bottle as this may cause spills. Ensure the oil level stays within the recommended range of 3/4 full or less. 

Keep Out of Reach of Children and Pets:
As reed diffusers contain fragrance oils, keep them in a safe location away from children and pets.

Replace the Oil:
Once the fragrance has diminished, replace both the oil and reeds to maintain the strength of the scent. The Scent Studio offers refills in a variety of scents to keep your space smelling fresh and inviting.

Remove Old Wax:
Use a spoon to gently loosen the edge of the old wax and lift it out of the jar.

Remove Wick and Wick Clip:
Carefully use a spoon to remove the old wick and wick clip from the bottom of the jar. Avoid using sharp objects that may damage the sealant barrier.

Clean the Jar:
Wipe out any remaining wax residue with a dish cloth. Do not submerge the vessel in water or place it in the dishwasher. Use a washcloth, warm water, and non-abrasive dish soap. Dry the jar thoroughly.

Inspect the Jar:
Check the inside of the jar to ensure the wax barrier has a smooth, shiny finish that is consistent throughout and there are no interior cracks. If the barrier is worn or cracks appear, it is time to repurpose your vessel for something other than candles. 

Insert the Refill:
Unwrap the new candle refill and place it into the cleaned jar.

Light & Enjoy:
Once the refill is securely in place, light your candle and enjoy!
