Meet Kara Haines – Founder of The Scent Studio

Hi, I’m Kara, the heart and hands behind The Scent Studio.

For as long as I can remember, creativity has been my outlet—whether it was crafting, making t-shirts, or creating handmade gifts for friends and family. I loved diving into different projects, but with a corporate career, I rarely had time to fully embrace my passion. That all changed in 2021 when my husband and I took a leap of faith and retired early, opening the door to a new chapter.

After taking some time to unwind, I found myself drawn back to what I love most: creating. There’s nothing more fulfilling than making something from scratch, perfecting every detail, and seeing the joy it brings to others (and, let’s be honest, to myself too!).

Candle making, in particular, captured my heart. I love the challenge of crafting the perfect scent, designing a vessel that complements it, and meticulously testing until everything is just right. It’s an art, a science, and a labor of love—but one that I’m deeply passionate about.

And when I need a playful creative break, my fun line of car fresheners takes me right back to childhood memories of painting figurines with my dad. They’re whimsical, nostalgic, and, of course, they smell amazing!
